Admissions policy
Parents considering a place in our school are welcomed to visit and discuss this. Please contact the headteacher by email or telephone.
All applications for admissions year groups 1 - 6 should be made to the Local Authority Primary Admissions Team. Where year groups are over subscribed parents have the option to appeal via the local authority for a place. Information about over subscribed school places are dealt with can be found on Sheffield City Council website.
Joining Reception
We have a 20 place reception group each year. We welcome parents visiting the school to discuss joining our reception. Please contact the headteacher either via the school office or by [email protected]
We recommend parents considering reception places at Wharncliffe Side to also consider our Nursery setting.

Moving Schools in the Academic Year
If you are new to the area you are looking for a new school for your child, please contact the headteacher. You will also be required to contact the Sheffield Admissions Team on:

Transfer to Secondary School
Most children transfer at 11+ to Bradfield School. We do also support transfers to other schools.
In-Year Admissions
Wharncliffe Side Primary School participates in the Local Authority’s Co-ordinated Admission Scheme for in-year admissions. If a parent of a child on our roll wishes to apply for a transfer to another school, they must obtain a transfer form from the school for completion of Section 2. The application must then be sent to the Local Authority which will process the application on the parent’s behalf. The Local Authority will confirm the outcome of the application in writing within 15 school days. If the application is refused, the Local Authority will advise on the statutory appeal procedure. For families that are new to the City, they should contact the Children Missing Education Team at [email protected] or 0114 273 6462 to arrange an appointment to make an admission application.”
